Nouns in English are divided into singular nouns which indicating one thing, and plural nouns indicating more than one thing, so today we will learn how to put the singular noun in plural form in English.

1- And we’ll start with the first form of plural, which are regular nouns as we add at the end of it the letter (s) such as:
💠 Cat→ cats 💠 project →projects
💠 Week → weeks 💠 skirt → skirts
💠 Chair →chairs 💠 seat → seats
💠 Book→ books 💠 pen → pens
💠 House →houses 💠 home →homes
💠 Horse →horses 💠 Duck →ducks
💠 Star → starts 💠 Journal →journals
2- The plural form is based in English on the last letter of the noun, so the noun ends with one of the following letters (Sh- Z-X- CH-SS-S ), we add (es) to the end of the word for examples:
💠 Whish→ whishes 💠 church → churches
💠 Fox →foxes 💠 Quiz →Quizzes
💠 Glass →glasses 💠 Class →classes
3- If the noun ends with (Y), we convert (Y) to (i), and then add (es) to the end of the word such as:
💠 Lady→ ladies 💠 cherry→ cherries
💠 City →cities 💠 country → countries
And we need to know that, if the letter that precedes (Y) is vowel, we don’t change anything, but we add (S) only at the end of the word to be plural noun such as:
💠 Boy →boys 💠 monkey →monkeys
💠 Journey →journeys
4- If the words end with (F- ef), we convert it to (V) then we add (es) at the end of the word such as:
💠 Wife →wives 💠 leaf →leaves
5- There are also words whose a form does not change definitely, when placed in the plural form, that is having only one form in the plural and singular formats such as:
💠 Deer →deer 💠 fish →fish
💠 Sheep →sheep 💠 series→ series
6- If the word ends with ( O), we need to add (es) at the end of the word for examples:
💠 Potato→ potatoes 💠 mosquito → mosquitoes
7- If the noun ends with (Um) , we delete (Um) and add (a) at the end of this word to put it in plural form such as :
💠 Datum →data 💠 stratum→ strata
8- If the word ends with (ix) ,when we put it in plural form we add (ices) at the end of the word like:
💠 Index → indices 💠 appendix →appendices
9- There are also several irregular words in English, that are not subject to any of the preceding rules and which are the most important of these:
