English Grammar : Personal pronouns

Our lesson today is very important part of the sentence in English, its pronouns that play a big role in understanding and explaining the sentence, where it express person’s identity whether he is speaker or listener or about the person we talk about in the sentence, So we will now learn about the personal pronouns in English and use both of them.  

Types of personal pronouns

English contains four types of personal pronouns that refers to either specific people, places or objects. And now we will recognize every type of them with examples of each.

1- Subject pronouns 

Very simply, we can explain the subject pronouns as pronouns or words that replace the subject or noun, Where they give the same meaning, it always comes before the verb in the sentence and we need to know that these pronouns come as noun either  person names as ( Sara – Ahmed …) or something frozen as ( table- pen …) and these pronouns are :

I	Singular ( male – female)	I am cleaning my car at least a week.
You	Singular - plural	You always win the games.
He	Singular ( male )	He goes to the factory every morning actively.
She	Singular ( female )	She is screaming loudly at her daughter.
It	singular	It likes playing very much.
We	Plural	We love our captain.
They	plural	They have their breakfast in garden.

2- Possessive adjectives 

Possessive adjectives are characterized by having a single form that doesn’t change with singular nouns and plural.

It used with nouns to show that something belongs to someone, and now we will present in the following table all possessive adjectives and examples for each of them.

Pronoun	Using	Examples
My	Female - male	This is my project.
Her	(female )	Samira going to the party with her friend.
His	( male)	He ate his sandwich at restaurant.
Its	Singular	This is its drink.
Our	Plural	This is our farm.
Your	Plural - singular	This is your new car.
Their	plural	They are going to their favorite place.

3- Possessive pronouns

We use these pronouns to refer to the things we have, and these pronouns help us to build the sentence in short without repeating and also help us to refer to the ownership of things simply.

mine	Male – female	I don’t think this dog is mine.
yours	Male - female	Keep yours voices down.
His	Male	Ahmed canceled his party.
Hers	Female	Those dresses are hers.
Its	Male – female	The parrot loved its a new house high up the tree.
Ours	( plural )	This old mansion is ours.
Theirs	(plural)	This motorbike is theirs.

4- Object pronouns

These pronouns usually come at the end of the sentence or after these three words (for – to – with) such as in the following table:

him	Singular (male)	Help me for him.
her	Singular (female)	She combs her hair in front of the mirror.
it	Male – female	Sami feed it.
us	Plural	God always helps us.
them	plural	I watched them at funeral yesterday.
