English has many and many tenses and every tense of them express particular situation or timing, also every one of them has a method of formulating and using its own.
So today we will study at length the past simple tense, because it is the most important tense.
Definition of a past simple tense
The past simple tense is basic formulation used to express an event or an act that has already been completed in a certain period of time, that is we use it to refer to an act or event has been done whether in the recent or distant past.
How to formulate the past simple tense?
Now we will learn how to configure the formula of the past simple tense in different cases with many examples.

And then we conclude from the pervious table that we have to add (ed) to the verb, when we turn it to the past simple tense.
That only applies to regular verbs, but there are several verbs called (irregular verbs) which this rule doesn’t apply it.

Meaningful words on the past simple tense
For every tense some words come with him always and relate to him, and now we will recognize the words that indicate the past simple tense.
(Last- ago- yesterday-in the past)
1-(ago) for examples:
- Sara was actress 10 years ago.
- I saw my friend Samir about 5 years ago.
- This girl worked with me 15 years ago.
2-(Yesterday) for examples:
- My sisters and I went to the opera yesterday.
- Yesterday, I played a lot of sports and I felt so tired.
- Yesterday, I did my own medical examination.
3- (Last week- Friday- day-…..)Such as:
- We went to the beach last Friday.
- It was my daughter’s graduation ceremony last week.
4- (In the past) for examples:
- In the past, my grandfather worked in agriculture.
- In the past, I dreamed of working in the medical profession.
